Frequently asked questions
What does the threshold do?
Anything quieter than this level (dBFS) counts as silence. The tool suggests a value for your recording; raise it for noisy backgrounds, lower it if breaths get cut.
Will words get chopped?
Each cut keeps a little padding on both sides (0.15 s by default) so word starts and ends survive. You can switch off any cut in the list.
Does it work on audio files?
Yes — podcasts and voice recordings (MP3, WAV, M4A) work too; the result is saved as MP3.
Is it really free?
