How does it hit the target size?
It computes the bitrate from the video's length and lowers the resolution when needed. If the result still overshoots, it retries once at a lower bitrate.
Will the quality drop a lot?
On short clips you'll barely see a difference. Squeezing a long video into a tiny target softens the picture — trimming it first works better.
What does the Instagram option do?
Instead of a size cap it uses Instagram's recommended settings: up to 1080 × 1920, 30 fps, H.264 with AAC audio.
